We are a 5k race (USATF-sanctioned) and a 2-mile fun run in Roseland, NJ. This event was created because Carolyn’s (co-founder/director) mom had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and she couldn’t find a race supporting its research.
Running 4 Answers, a race against Alzheimer’s mission is 3-fold:
- Raise money for and awareness of Alzheimer’s disease.
- Host a well-managed 5k race.
- Create a fun community event.
We chose to donate our proceeds to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (www.curealz.org). This organization was chosen because of its concentration solely on research.
The mission of Cure Alzheimer’s Fund is to fund research with the highest probability of slowing, stopping or reversing Alzheimer’s disease. So far, Cure Alzheimer’s Fund has contributed $88 million toward research and has identified more than 70 genes linked to the disease…and they’re not stopping until there’s an end to Alzheimer’s.
